Yet another year has come to an end,
Already, new promises and hopes,
this new year has started to send.
For some, the past year might have been supersweet,
All goals and resolutions in the to-do list, marked complete.
For some of us, the past year might have been bittersweet,
We might have our goals undone and incomplete.
Does that mean we retreat and accept defeat?
No, not now. Not ever.
It’s time to pull over,
Retrospect, replan and start over.
Prepare a fresh set of goals,
Have it on your phone, you can anytime scroll.
Stick it on your desk, at a glace, take in the whole.
Before that, remember,
It’s always necessary to give closure,
because only then can you ever start over.
Remember to celebrate even your smallest of achievements,
because, in any which way, “progress” is what it meant.
Remember, simply remember the failures
because they are learnings
and in future, they wont be unfamiliar,
not anymore.
and finally, rejoice in the fact that you became wiser,
trust me, in the future, you will be your own advisor.
Having said all of this, I must clarify, I am not an old soul,
I know it’s difficult to believe on hearing this whole.
I too don’t like to withhold,
I love to see the party unfold.
Let’s celebrate,
enjoy and rave,
to unwind our mind,
To unchain the constraints,
because only then, only then,
shall the phoenix rise from it’s ashes.
