I am in reverie,
as my mind travels from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
I weave a journey,
No, may be a story,
to sense India in all it’s glory.
I feel the cold whip of air,
aboard a shikara on Dal Lake as I fare.
I am awestruck when the silvery, shining Himalayas, at me, stare.
I step on the land of five rivers,
I see the yellow-green mustard fields, in the wind, shiver,
and on the golden glow of the temple, my eyes linger,
a little longer, a little longer.
On the banks of the Yamuna, I see the white dome,
like a crown, supremely handsome.
When I see Mumbai’s rocky beach,
“Come, spend some time”, I hear it beseech.
I set sail along the Konkan coast,
Of rugged, sensuous beauty, it gleefully boasts.
I smell sandal on the way,
I realize Mysuru Rajya is not far away.
I am drawn towards God’s Own Country,
that speaks of coconut trees, backwaters and beauty, oh! so sultry.
Finally I reach the land’s end,
where two seas and an ocean blend.
The mesmerizing sunrise and sunset,
promise peace within and hopes whet.
I am in reverie,
as my mind travels from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
